Canada Customs & Import Charges

WHAT MAY APPLY
AT DESTINATION.

Goods sent from the Isle of Man to Canada enter the Canadian import process. Customs treatment and any charges depend on what is being sent, its origin, value, destination and the circumstances of the shipment.

Canadian import declaration

Shipment information must accurately describe the goods, quantity, value and origin so the shipment can be processed for import into Canada.

CAN$20 low-value threshold

Certain qualifying goods valued at CAN$20 or less can enter without duty or tax. Above that threshold, applicable duty and Canadian taxes may be charged on the shipment according to its circumstances.

Personal gifts have separate rules

A qualifying personal gift sent by a friend or relative and valued at CAN$60 or less may receive separate duty-and-tax relief. Commercial goods should not be declared as personal gifts.

Who pays

Responsibility for duties, taxes, fees and clearance charges depends on the shipment and customs arrangement. Sender-paid arrangements may be possible for suitable services but are not universal.

Current rules checked: August 2026. Rules and shipment treatment can change, so check the current guidance before booking.
